SECOPTA provides laser based system solutions to issues of analysis in the fields of security technology, industrial process management
and environment. The user and its application are the focus of all our concepts. In the realisation of any project the ease of use, industrial capability,
ease of integration into existing systems and good service come first.
SECOPTA GmbH was founded in 1998 (first named "LUK Laser und Umwelt Kiel") as spin-off of the Clausthal University of Technology for the conversion
of laser-based sensor concepts to field applications. The first efforts were systems for the detection of landmines and explosives.
Since 2007, SECOPTA is engaged to use laser spectroscopic systems for material analysis in industrial applications.
Increasing ideas from own research projects SECOPTA develops practical systems for industrial and field use.
The realization of the projects is carried out by close collaboration with the parent company CryLaS GmbH (since 2007 the majority
shareholder of SECOPTA). Its long lasting experience in the development and manufacture of compact laser sources just like high level
and ISO9001 certified manufacturing processes is the basis for the high quality of SECOPTA products.

In November 2007 the Defence Industry Committee (AVW) of the Federation of German Industries (Bundesverband der deutscher Industrie, BDI) assigned
the development of an "Intelligent Laser Optical Mine Prodder" system with the Technology Award of the Defense Industries.
This project was the result of a collaboration between SECOPTA GmbH, the LaserApplicationCenter (LAC) of the TU Clausthal and the
Bundeswehr Research Institute for Materials, Explosives and Lubricants (Wehrwissenschaftliches Institut für Werk-, Explosiv- und Betriebsstoffe der Bundeswehr, WIWEB).
